OINP Updates: New Flexibility for Job Offer and Work Experience Requirements
📢 Today, January 28th, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that physicians applying to the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) at the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream no longer need a job offer if they meet these requirements:
📌 Registered and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario under one of these certificate categories:
📍Independent practice
📍Academic practice
📍Postgraduate education
📌 Eligible to receive payments for publicly funded health services under the Health Insurance Act, 1990.
Additionally, OINP now allows applicants to the Human Capital Priorities and French-Speaking Skilled Worker streams to use self-employment experience to meet work experience requirements if it falls under these NOC codes:
📍NOC 31100: Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine
📍NOC 31101: Specialists in surgery
📍NOC 31102: General practitioners and family physicians
Applicants must choose to be assessed under either the Federal Skilled Workers Program or the Canadian Experience Class.
The amendments came into effect on January 27, 2025.
