Hundreds of Saskatchewan nurses rallied at the legislature, demanding government action to address staffing shortages in healthcare.

Tracy Zambory, president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, emphasized the need for plans to reduce wait times and enhance patient safety. NDP leader Carla Beck pledged to collaborate with nurses and invest an additional $1.1 billion in healthcare if elected.

Although Scott Moe's Saskatchewan Party introduced a plan two years ago, and he states the province has hired more than 1,300 recent nursing graduates, Zambory countered that there is still a shortage of 700 full-time registered nursing jobs in the province.

Election day is set for October 28.
